UNDERPANTS DAY! PART 2: The Fartians Are Coming!

In the first article we discussed What led up to the brain fart that created the Fartians and the whole "Underpants Day" concept, tying the idea not only to the Codemasters ™ Turds® Games but into the Turd World® as a whole.

It was Simple really, the Turds had Good guys and Bad guys. You had Joe Turd, Log on and Rimbo, as well as Freddy Pooger, the Bogfather and even Adolf Shitler. But the protagonists in the games needed to go up a level, something that overshadowed the Turd World® As a whole… or Hole if you like.

Creating the Fartians came in a flash. We introduce them as Bipedal, Lazer blaster shooting aliens in the same vein as Mars Attacks, but I liked the idea of the Bio Suit / Symbiosis that you saw in the Independance Day movie, so here's where I came up with the Twist!

The True Fartians were revealed to be Walking Asses. Butts with Feet! And more! They Shot out tentacles from their orifice, that connects with the Turds, sucking their head tails into the hole and turning the everyday turd into a Zombie-like creature, much like the Wasp that turns Cockroaches into Zombie Slaves.

The FARTIANS™ were Born! And the Turd World® would never be the same again! For the games, the idea was kept light, only touching the surface of the characters. It wasn’t needed to go any deeper to probe the dark depths of the Fartians and their relationship to the Turds®.

BUT

I couldn’t help myself. I started scratching at that crusty turd, wanting to find out what moist delights I could find underneath this surface idea…. and boy did I uncover a whole heap of ideas! Slowly the threads all started to come together, the players in the play started to appear on the Tapestry of the Turds History like brown stains on an unattended hand towel in a toilet with no TP!

Why not have the Fartians™ and the Turds® histories be intertwined much deeper than a simple invasion?

What if the Fartians had been present in the Turds ancient past? What if this wasn’t the First time they had interacted with our little Brown Buddies?

The Characters and Ideas that this idea brought into play expanded the mythology out further — Rimdianna Jones, the TurdGate project, Area Fifty Poo! It all started to fit together like a huge Ass Shaped jigsaw puzzle.

I had been playing around with a Comic strip idea highlighting the characters of Starskid & Crutch, and the Turd fans seemed to enjoy this medium. We created a few one-page strips to accompany the Games, and it was great to be back Writing and drawing Comics (something I had always loved doing).

So, I took the bull by the horns and set about putting together 2 Joe Turd® related graphic Novels:

The Adventures of Rimdianna Jones (Raiders of the Lost Arse) and the fart made solid — “UNDERPANTS DAY”
