UNDERPANTS-DAY: The Small Brain Fart that Turned into a Skidmark!

So, one of the questions that has regularly been asked is What is UNDERPANTS DAY and Why is it so important to the Turd World? So I guess it’s time to Explain How a small brain Fart grew into a Fartburg of epic proportions…

The thing you have to realize first is that the Turds Started life as a Simple Collectibles Concept, The Bad taste Bear Collectibles Range was making a killing across the UK, and the original idea was simply to create a brand/Product that could sit on the shelf as an alternative to the obnoxious little fur bags, that’s it. No back stories, no character development, no history, nothing. just poo-puns as statues/figurines.

This never sat right with me,

By Nature, I’m a Writer who Draws, I’m a Director and a Storyteller. So While developing the Website… (this was during 2001 When very few had Websites and Facebook/X didn’t Exist)… I decided it needed a fun aspect to it; I didn’t want it to Simply be a Sales Window. So, I created a loose map of the Turd World, With images that gave an insight into the Turds as a Society, and this proved to be the thing that would grab the attention of the Collectibles Fan Base…

The Stories made the Stools Cool

But it still wasn’t Cohesive, it was still a Pot of big brown effluence that we were Stirring indiscriminately….

As the Brand grew, and we moved from Simple Puns to What we lovingly refer to as Plop Culture, things began to get clearer.

When we started to make Calendars and Posters (With Pyramid Posters) and found that these glimpses into the Turd World got the fans Buzzing, we knew that we needed to flesh out and Solidify our Turds and so When Codemasters and the Turds Struck a deal to Create video games (starting with the Mini Games on their Funsta flash site ) we saw the opportunity to do just that.

The Flash games needed a theme, something that gelled them together, the Turds needed some Conflict that brought it all together,

Like Any nerd in Media, I loved Sci-Fi Films and TV Shows, I’d worked on a number of them, and certain ideas always stick with you, Star Trek and Stargate, and of course the smash hit summer blockbuster Independence Day were examples of media that influenced this idea.

in the Dark Murky pungent corners of my mind an idea took hold… What if the Turd World was Invaded?
